We need your help with setup on Saturday, February 4th at 9:30 a.m. The first 10 helpers that are at the range by 9:30am when setup begins and stay until setup is complete will SHOOT THE MATCH FOR FREE the next day. If you can’t make it by 9:30am or can’t stay until setup is complete, we will give you a coupon worth $10 toward the match the next day. The more people that help, the earlier we can all be finished. We will also buy your lunch. You will be entered in our yearly drawing for a GLOCK Pistol Certificate! We will be finalizing set up on Sunday morning at 8:30 am. It is also very important that all members of each squad stay to help tear down the stage they finish on and for help with any of the stages that have no squad finishing on them. Thanks very much to those of you that continue to assist us each month. We know who you are and we appreciate your help!

If you can lend a hand with setup, please email Larry Turner at turnerover@comcast.net. We need to confirm enough help for setting up the match before Saturday morning. Please be aware if we can’t get enough people for setup, then we can’t put on the match.

Due to policy changes imposed at South River Gun Club, all competitors are unfortunately required to park at the Training pit/RV parking area at the top of the hill. We apologize for any inconvenience this will cause.

Good Shooting!

Here you’ll find information on our clubs, details on the matches we host, and information on how to get started in this great sport.

Just as Georgia offers everything from the seashore to the mountains, Practical Shooting in Georgia runs the gamut from small 3 or 4 stage indoor matches on weekday evenings to full, national match quality, day-long, 8 stage outdoor events. Every month, just about every week of the year, one of Georgia’s USPSA affiliated clubs is hosting a match to challenge the expert shooter and introduce the novice to the most fun sport around: USPSA Practical Shooting.

Rather than our normal handgun-only USPSA match in November we will be having a 3-Gun match at Pinetucky the Saturday after Thanksgiving, November 26th. Shooters should plan to arrive between 8:00 and 8:30, sign-up will be at 8:30, a safety briefing and COF review at 8:45, and shooting should start at 9:00. It is our plan to be done between 12:00 and 1:00.

While we do not yet have exact round counts, plan on bringing the following:
At least 75 rounds of bird shot, 7.5 or smaller
At least 150 rounds of rifle ammo (no steel or steel core ammo as we will be shooting some steel at 100 yards)
At least 150 rounds of pistol ammo

We will have one LONG COF on the rifle range, a short course also on the rifle range, and 2 medium courses on the pistol range. All courses of fire will have a 180 second time limit. Unless otherwise specified, all brown full-size USPSA targets will be engaged with handgun only, all white ¼ size USPSA targets will be engaged with rifle only, and all orange 4” square steel targets will be engaged with shotgun only.

There will only be 2 divisions: Tactical Optics and Tactical Irons. Unmagnified optics (dot-type) can run in the Tactical Irons division. There are no magazine capacity restrictions

Scoring will be done using IMGA rules. Basically, that means 1 A/B hit or 2 anywhere on the target. Shotgun steel must fall and rifle hits on the 100 yard swingers will be called by one of the ROs.

Because all of the stages are going to be rather involved, we will need everyone’s help resetting the stages. There will be no collecting of brass until after the match is over and all of the props are put away.

While we will not dictate shooting positions, it may be to your advantage to shoot from a prone or kneeling position at times. Dress accordingly.

For anyone that wants to come shoot this but does not have the necessary equipment, several of us will have equipment that we will share. Please email me, mnyland@themxtrack.com, or Dewey Hutson, dewey1_1@msn.com, to make arrangements.

And he (contrary to what others have said — and that includes me and for that I apologize for misunderstanding) does NOT want to go to all-Turtle targets! Please vote when your ballot arrives in the mail. The turnout was only 30% last month, and that’s a lot for a USPSA election and unbelievably pathetic at the same time. We can do better. We NEED to do better to make Phil’s quest successful. Please Visit Phil’s website for more details. (Comments are enabled for this post.)

Sorry for the late notice and thanks for your support!

We need your help with setup on Saturday, October 1st at 9:30 a.m. We will also buy your lunch, and you will be entered in our yearly drawing that includes a GLOCK Pistol Certificate! We will be finalizing set up on Sunday morning at 8:30 am.

It is also VERY important, whether or not you’re able to assist with setup, that all members of each squad help to tear down the stage they finish on and also assist with any of the stages that have no squad finish on them. USPSA as a sport rides on the backs of its volunteers. Thanks very much to those of you that continue to help us each month. We know who you are and we appreciate your help!

If you can help with setup, please email Larry Turner at turnerover@comcast .net. We need to confirm enough help for setting up the match before Saturday morning (Oct 1st). Please be aware if we can’t get enough setup help, then we can’t put on the match.

Good Shooting!

Bill and Cindy Noyes
