Here you’ll find information on our clubs, details on the matches we host, and information on how to get started in this great sport.

Just as Georgia offers everything from the seashore to the mountains, Practical Shooting in Georgia runs the gamut from small 3 or 4 stage indoor matches on weekday evenings to full, national match quality, day-long, 8 stage outdoor events. Every month, just about every week of the year, one of Georgia’s USPSA affiliated clubs is hosting a match to challenge the expert shooter and introduce the novice to the most fun sport around: USPSA Practical Shooting.

Only two slots left!; hurry up folks, if you don’t want to be left out!

Cherokee Gun Club, in association with the 2010 USPSA Area 6 Championship, will be hosting a NROI Level 1 Range Officer Seminar on March 27th and March 28th, at the gun club, located at 1700 Candler Road, Gainesville, GA 30507. The class will be held in the Cherokee Gun Club club house. The instructor will be George Jones, RMI.

Class size is limited to 25 participants; the fee is $60 per student, which includes lunch for both days (pizza on one and McDonald’s on the other). All students must be USPSA members. If you are not, you can bring a USPSA membership application form with the respective payment to class on saturday. Student registration will be on a first come, first served basis. However, if it happens that we receive a USPSA member’s application after that of a non-member, the member will have preference for acceptance into the class.

The class fee together with your completed application form (available at http://georgiaipsc.com/lvl1seminar.pdf) must be sent to the address below before Marth 15th, so that we can tell USPSA in advdance the number of students that will be attending. (The form is an interactive pdf file; you can easily type your information directly into it on your computer’s screen and then print the filled out form for mailing. Or you can just print it and hand-write the information.)

All students attending the Level 1 RO Seminar are encouraged to review the current edition 2008 Handgun Competition rulebook before attending the class. Students will need to bring their rulebooks with them along with paper for taking notes.

The class schedule may change if the number of students is close to 25. For now it is as follows:

Saturday: Arrival not later than 7:45 a.m. to the CGC club house. Class begins at 8:00 a.m. sharp, and will finish around 6 p.m.

Sunday: Class resumes at 8:00 a.m. sharp, and will be completed about 3 p.m. There will be shooting in the afternoon as part of giving students actual range time as a RO as part of the seminar. Not all students will be shooting.

Please be aware that only students who actually mail in their registration forms and fees will be confirmed for attending the seminar. All others who requested a slot in the class prior to this announcement using any other means will not be counted and need to please register and pay by mail. Twenty-five is not a lot of space, so if you wish to attend this seminar, you should send in your registration now so as to avoid disappointment.

Students can bring snacks or rerfreshments if the wish, though coffee and other refreshments will be served. Please do not bring popcorn; we need to leave the place as clean as we find it.

Fill out the form and amil with your check or money order to:

Boris Zaretsky
5325 Mainstream Circle
Norcross, GA 30092

Please make your check or money order payable to “Cherokee Gun Club” with a memo note stating “paid for RM class” along with your USPSA number. Please do not staple the check to your application form.

For further information, you may contact Boris at bzaret@comcast.net, or call at 770-449-3514, or 404-422-4388.

Thanks and we look forward to seeing you on March 27th!

This weekend is the 3rd Sunday and will be our River Bend USPSA match. Due to the ice and snow we have not been able to move the props to the new range so we will have it on the Cowboy range (where it has been for the last 3 years).

I know that Jimmy Nortz and Jason Koon have stages already designed so it should be a great, and challenging, match. For those who want to help with set-up on Saturday please reply to me and I will forward your name to Jimmy or Jason.

Registration starts about 9AM and the first shot is at 10AM Sunday so please come out and enjoy what should be some much warmer weather and a great first match of 2010!!!

Thanks!
Mark

P.S. I want to make sure that everyone gets the word that the match is not on the 4th Saturday anymore so please help me by telling all your shooting buddies.

We really need your help with setup on Saturday, January 2nd at around 9:30 a.m. if you can spare a couple of hours. All the football ought to be pretty much over by then, so we hope we get a lot of help. John Golson is graciously serving as Guest Match Director this month so we need to show him what we can do!

The more people that help, the earlier we can all be finished. We will buy your lunch and give you a coupon worth $10 toward the match the next day. You will also be entered in our yearly drawing that includes a GLOCK Pistol Certificate and a membership to South River Gun Club! We will be finalizing set up on Sunday morning at 8:30 a.m. We would appreciate each squad helping to tear down the stage they finish on and for help with any of the stages that have no squad finish on them. Thanks very much to those of you that continue to help us each month. We know who you are and we appreciate your help!

If you can help with setup, please email Larry Turner at ‘jgolson @ bellsouth.net’. We need to confirm enough help for setting up the match before Saturday ,January 2nd.

Good Shooting!

Bill and Cindy Noyes
