Alan Adamson (the President of GPSL) and I have worked out a grudge match between the 2 organizations. We have it scheduled for Sunday, August 22nd, at the NAAS range in Cumming. (http://bullseyemarksman.com)
Setup time will be 6p, with shooting to start just as soon as we get setup.
In an effort to help everyone with range fees, it will be a special match fee and the costs will be $10/p shooter. (no member discount as this fee is already less than members fee – this will go to paying for the range for the evening) Consider putting your left over into a team with cash payouts – see below. (Please come help with setup if you can.)
GPSL will design the stages for this match and we’ll work for 3 stages that most likely will be 32 rounds, 20ish and some form of a speed shoot, time allowing. So plan 70-100 rounds on the evening. If this works out, plan is to do a similar match at a future date at GPSL and NAAS will get to design the stages.
In order to have fun and create a way to score this by organization, we’ve come up with the following scoring approach. Did I mention that this will be a cash prizes Match – creative financing below
.
You shoot your division rules and equipment just as you normally would. In addition, each organization should promote building up at least one team – you aren’t limited to only one, and if we have more, we’ll score up to the smallest common number fielded by the organization. e.g. If NAAS has 4 teams and GPSL has 3, we’ll score the overall match based upon 3 teams.
Shooting teams must meet the following rules/criteria:
- Each team member will pay a $5 team fee to be considered in the team awards (where the cash prizes will come from), this means that each team will contribute $25 in total into the prize kitty. Kitty to be held by some respectable soul until paid out.
- Any team must be made up of current members of NAAS or GPSL but not both.
Joining night of the match is allowed. - Each team must be made up of 5 shooters, one each to represent the following divisions – Open, Limited, Limited-10, Production, and Single Stack. You may substitute a production shooter for limited-10, it will score as limited-10 minor.
- Each team can only have one A class or higher shooter on the team, all other team members must be B class or lower in their respective divisions. Remember however, multiple teams can be fielded.
- To determine the team score, we’ll take the overall match points of the 5 shooters and add them up
Winner/award determination
- To determine the organization that wins the grudge match, the match point totals for the smallest common number of teams fielded by each organization, will be totaled. The award for the match will be non-cash bragging rights until the next grudge match.
- The winning team will be determined by the single team with the most match points, and it will be awarded the team prize kitty to be divided between team members.
So, get the word out, each organization has a couple of weeks to get their teams together. We might be limited on stages depending on total shooters, but we’ll work it out so everyone can have fun.
Come, enjoy the fun, meet old friends, shoot and maybe win a little spending money… Hope to see you there!

Ron and Alan,
Can I say congratulations on this awesome idea! This is the kind of thing that can generate additional excitement in an already exciting sport, to the mutual benefit of us all. And you all came up with this yourselves; you didn’t have to wait for some central figure to tell you to try it. That’s how USPSA in Georgia is supposed to work!
(And I may have to think about South River v. Cherokee!)
