Just as Georgia offers everything from the seashore to the mountains, Practical Shooting in Georgia runs the gamut from small 3 or 4 stage indoor matches on weekday evenings to full, national match quality, day-long, 8 stage outdoor events. Every month, just about every week of the year, one of Georgia’s USPSA affiliated clubs is hosting a match to challenge the expert shooter and introduce the novice to the most fun sport around: USPSA Practical Shooting.

Because the State Trap Shoot is at South River this weekend and many of the shotgunners camp down on the action shooting bays, there will be no USPSA match at South River on May 4th.

Please join us for our next USPSA at South River on June 1st.

Shooting starts 7-7:30 pm, earlier if we can manage it. See you at Autrey’s Armory Tuesday, Apr 29th!

Pinetucky Gun Club, in Augusta, hosts a USPSA match on the 4th saturday of the month. They get started at 8:30 AM. Cost $4 for gun club members and $12 nonmembers, plus USPSA fees. Directions: From I-20, take Bobby Jones Expressway ( I-520 ) East to Deans Bridge Road ( Hwy. 1 ), Exit onto Deans Bridge Road ( Hwy. 1 ) South toward Wrens. You will stay on Hwy 1 for eight (8) miles, at the top of the hill you will turn left onto Camp Josey Road and follow it to the end. Pinetucky has a sign on the left at Camp Josey Road and the Richmond County Sheriffs Department Training Range has a sign on the right, across from Camp Josey Road.

Welcome to the 2008 USPSA Area 6 Championship. Over the next three days, you will test yourself against some of the best practical shooters in the United States and beyond. We know you have worked hard in preparation for the match and that the competition will be intense. We have assembled stages from clubs in Area 6 that we hope you will find to be both demanding and enjoyable.

By participating in this sport, you are making a contribution to its advancement. Anyone who has participated in practical shooting for even a few years is well aware of the tremendous number of aftermarket products that are available to make our guns faster, more accurate, and easier to handle. Many of the vendors and craftsmen of our sport have made a decision to sponsor this match and others like it. Please remember, when you purchase products and services from our sponsors, you are not only expressing your appreciation for their support, you are also helping them to support our future matches. I hope you will visit our vendor area and personally thank each of them while you are here.

This match would not be possible without the generous contributions of the staff and volunteers like the Police Explorers.
